Beezer - Wild Dayz images now online in the PYMCA archive. Prints & Book in the PYMCA shop
The images from the book Wild Dayz by Beezer are now online in the archive.
View all images from Wild Dayz
The book is a collection of images shot by Bristol photographer Andrew ‘Beezer’ Beese in the mid 80s many of which are of The Wild Bunch, later to become Massive Attack.
Beezer was a close friend of The Wild Bunch and other Bristol hip hop crews and was able to capture on film the rich urban culture at the heart of the underground music and art scene prevalent in Bristol at the time.

PYMCA Re-publishing Streetstyle By Ted Polhemus
“Streetstyle is my sartorial bible” –Chloe Sevigny in The New York Times.Without the Hipsters, Teddy Boys, Beats, Rockabillies, Rude Boys, Mods, Surfers, Hippies, Punks, B-Boys, Ravers, Harajuku Girls - and all the other streetstyle originals – most of us would be left without anything to wear. But the sharp suits, leather jackets, jeans, kaftans, flares, DMs, slick locks and so forth are only the visible, tangible part of this legacy. Oozing through the clothes, hairstyles, make-up and accessories is an attitude. An attitude which perhaps more than any other set the tone of life in the second half of the twentieth century and which shows no sign of dissipating in the…

Carnivores + Destructors: Morrissey Fans by Adam Krause
"Few things in this world make sense to me. Photography, and the lyrics of a man who sounds like a muppet crooning, happen to be two exceptions. I am attracted to people who find a way to manifest their obsessive qualities into something physical. Carnivores and Destructors documents people infatuated with the pop singer Morrissey, and the various dimensions of this fixation. I found subjects in less expected parts of the US like Compton, California." Adam Krause

Greenpoint Nazi Skins. A study by Adam Krause.
These facinating yet disturbing portraits of Racist Skinheads in Greenpoint, Brooklyn NYC, show the uncomfortable side of racism which still exists today's western society and which most people try and ignore or sweep under the carpet. The study is made even more poignant given the photographer's cultural background.
"In the summer of 2009 I came across a group of Nazi skinheads while working out at my local gym, I starting talking to them after recognizing their racist punk band t-shirts. They gave me access to their homes and their lives, which was a very strange place to be for someone like myself who grew up in a very strict Jewish family, with four grandparents who survived the Holocaust."…

New Image Collection from Clare Muller
PYMCA is proud to represent the collection of Clare Muller.
Born and raised in London NW1, Clare went to school with people who wanted to be pop/rock stars in the early 80's ( madness, body snatchers..). with no musical ability and no aptitude for being a groupie, she followed her mates around taking pictures and generally getting in the way.On the suggestion of Miranda from the 2- tone band, the Bodysnatchers she took a carrier bag of gig shots to Stiff records who amazingly offered her a job documenting a tour starting the next week. The love affair with photography begins. She shot live/portraiture for NME , SMASH HITS and THE FACE and worked on many classic pop videos as a stills photographer.

Reggae & Ragga Culture. New Work by Wayne Tippetts
Wayne Tippetts lived and worked in Jamaica in the late 80s and early 90s documenting the thriving Reggae culture and also the emerging Ragga and Dancehall scene with its daring home-made outfits, street dances, and queens-of-the-night with their very own ‘Ghetto Couture’ who, Cinderella-like, would slip away at dawn back to the humdrum life in the ghettos of Down Town Kingston.
During this time, he also taught photography at the Edna Manley College in Jamaica’s capital. The work has also been extensively exhibited worldwide - including galleries in Jamaica, New York, London and Sydney. The Dancehall images also form part of the permanent Collection at the ReggaeXplosion Photography…
