ABOUT PYMCA
Based in London, PYMCA is the Photographic Youth Music Culture Archive and was established in 1997 by Jon Swinstead. His aim was to create a collection of images that captured the real essence of life as a young person. This unique archive has grown to over 40,000 photographs sourced from all over the world, documenting the lifestyles, fashions, hairstyles, music and subcultures of young people from the 1960s to the present day.
Now in 2010 PYMCA is proud to launch Cultural Research. Our new service now represents moving image, text, graphics - any form of relevant content. This propels PYMCA into a new and exciting space, becoming The on-line authority on global youth culture. Over the coming days, weeks months and years we will be adding constantly to the site. Scouring the World, and adding in content be it undiscovered footage from yesteryear to up to the minute trends from any corner of the Earth.
The subject matter won't change. The authenticity of PYMCA content is a true mirror of cultures and provides a fascinating insight into the lives, circumstances and concerns of their subjects. The PYMCA collection is and always will be run by avid enthusiasts and is a celebration of the self-expression, idealism, frustrations, resilience and creative vitality of people in the world.
PYMCA is both edgy and documentary and the newest material will visually reflect the hottest stuff happening among the youth of today.
The collection's is available for rights managed commercial and editorial licensing and as a paid for subscription resource giving members access to the most comprehensive research available on line today.
PYMCA is also able to offer bespoke research services for clients and offers assignment work for a select group of our contributors. If you are interested in our bespoke services please get in touch with us and we will be glad to discuss your individual needs.
